🇬🇧 – In english – What we offer during week 19 at Rønde Folk High School

Rejsen til Island

På rejsen til Island skal vi opleve den Islandske natur og kultur. Island byder på et ubegribeligt smukt og barskt landskab, som vi i fællesskab skal udforske.

Vi skal ase os op, hvor kontinentalpladerne støder sammen, vi skal mase os ind bag vandfaldene, og vi skal dase i varme kilder. På hele turen vil der være ufattelige naturfænomener med et baggrundstæppe af vulkaner og is.

Reykjavik

Vi skal besøge Islands hovedstad Reykjavik som er en unik og hyggelig oplevelse. Her skal vi tale med lokale og se byens store seværdigheder. Byen er blandt andet kendt for sit operahus, Hallgrimskirken og de mange udendørs svømmebassiner. Der bliver også tid til et hyggeligt cafebesøg, og måske skal du ud og købe en ægte islandsk sweater i en af de mange specialbutikker.

Det kan du opleve på Island

  • De berømte geotermiske kilder. Vandet er indbydende temperatur på 36-39° året rundt.
  • Nationalpark Þingvellir (Vikingernes þingi) med det smukke vandfald Gullfoss og den berømte Geysir.
  • Thingvellir – hvor de europæiske og nordamerikanske kontinentplader møder hinanden.
  • Vandfaldsklatring ved mere og mindre kendte vandfald.
  • Vulkanlandskaber
  • Grotte-udforskning
  • Kultur i Reykjavik
  • Gletcherlandskaber
  • Hveragerdi – byen, der varmer kæmpemæssige drivhuse op med termisk varme.

Vil du være med til at tage dit telt på ryggen og vandre ind i nationalpark Thy og slå lejr under den lyse sommerhimmel? Og vil du udfordre dig selv med surf i vesterhavet, mad på trangia og smuk dansk natur.

Udfordringer og fællesskab i den danske natur

Turen er for dig, der har lyst til at bruge fire dage på fællesskab og udfordringer i den smukke danske natur, der ligger i det nordlige Danmark.

Vi vandrer ad små stier gennem den særlig natur, og så spiser vi ret meget chokolade og drikker ret meget varm kakao. Når mørket sænker sig, samles vi om lejrbålet til sang og snak under den forhåbentligt stjerneklare himmel.

Også for nybegyndere

Hvis du aldrig har prøvet sådan noget før, så er turen også en oplagt mulighed for at lære de helt basale friluftsfærdigheder, så du bagefter kan planlægge dine egne naturture.

Outdoorturen til Thy varer 5 dage og koster 1.000 kr. Der er mulighed for at låne udstyr.

Emneuge: Udsyn til verden

I emneugen Udsyn til verden arbejder vi på Rønde Højskole på forskellige måder med at se ud i verden og hive kultur, historie, oplevelser, mad, sprog og alle mulige andre forhold ind på skolen.

Hvad er nationalretten i Sydkorea? Hvordan er demokratiet opbygget i Mexico? Hvordan bruger man musikken i Congo? Eller hvad leger man i skolegården i Kirgisistan?

I fællesskab mellem lærere og elever vil denne emneuge forsøge at bringe verdens kulturer ind på højskolen, og se hvordan nogle de ting vi tager for givet i Danmark, er anderledes ude i verden. Der skal måske danses en nationaldans, laves nationalretter eller skal der nørdes i historie, demokratisk forståelse, nationalprodukt, teknologiske fremskridt eller sundhedsvæsenets virken. En uge med mange forskellige indtryk fra mange forskellige steder i verden.

Udsyn til verden er inkluderet i den almindelige betaling.

Trip to Iceland

On the trip to Iceland we will experience the Icelandic nature and culture. Iceland offers an incomprehensibly beautiful and harsh landscape that we will explore together.
We will climb up where the continental plates collide, we will squeeze in behind the waterfalls and will to relax in the hot springs. Throughout the trip, there will be unimaginable natural phenomena with a backdrop of volcanoes and ice.

Reykjavik

We will visit Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik, which is a unique and pleasant experience. Here, we will talk to locals and see the city’s major attractions. The city is known, among other things, for its opera house, the Hallgrim church and the many outdoor swimming pools. There will also be time for a cozy cafe visit, and maybe you should go out and buy a real Icelandic sweater in one of the many specialty shops

  • De famous hot springs with an inviting temperature of 36-39 degrees all year round.
  • National park Þingvellir (The Viking þingi) with the lovely waterfall Gullfoss and the famous Geysir.
  • Thingvellir – where the European and North American continental plates collide.

Outdoor trip to Thy National park

Do you want to put your tent on your back, hike into Thy national park and set up camp under the bright summer sky? And do you want to challenge yourself surfing in the North Sea, cooking food on a Trangia stove and the beautiful Danish nature?

Challenge and community in the Danish nature

The trip is for those who want to spend four days in a special community, facing challenges in the beautiful Danish nature of northern Denmark.

We hike along small paths through the special landscape, and then we eat quite a lot of chocolate and drink quite a lot of hot cocoa. When darkness falls, we gather around the campfire to sing and talk under the hopefully starry sky.

Also for beginners

If you have never tried something like this before, the trip is also a great opportunity to learn the very basic outdoor skills, so that you can plan your own outdoor trips afterwards.

The outdoor trip to Thy lasts 5 days and costs 1,000 DKK. It is possible to borrow equipment.

Special week: Outlook to the World

The world is still out there, and it’s still big, exciting, different. Can some of the fantastic things that we are used to traveling out of Denmark for perhaps come to Denmark instead?

In the special week Outlook to the World, we work with different ways to look out at the world and bring culture, history, experiences, food, language and all sorts of other things into the school.

What is the national dish in South Korea? How is democracy structured in Mexico? How is music used in the Congo? Or what do you play in the school yard in Kyrgyzstan?

In collaboration between teachers and students, this subject week will try to bring the cultures of the world into the school and experience how some of the things we take for granted in Denmark are different in other parts of the world. Perhaps we will dance a national dance, cook national dishes or geek out about history, democratic understanding, national products, technological progress or the workings of the healthcare system. A week with many different impressions from many different places in the world.

Outlook to the world is included in the regular payment.
