Volleyball is all about community, teamwork, and solid technique – and, most of all, having a lot of fun together. In the volleyball elective at Rønde Højskole, everyone is welcome as long as you’re up for learning.
To begin with, we focus on the basics: forearm passing, setting, and serving, so we can get a good game going across the net. Your teacher will introduce fun technique drills and small-sided games that quickly help you feel your progress. As we move further into the course, we’ll also practise spikes and lobs at the net – the skills that make the game dynamic and exciting.
Every session includes time for full games, where we’ll also talk about the tactical side of volleyball so you can become smarter players. Along the way, we’ll challenge other teams – for example the local boarding school’s volleyball team – which is usually a great experience for everyone and a chance to test your new skills. Outside of class, we also have the option of going on cosy group trips to watch top-level Danish volleyball, as ASV Aarhus has both a women’s and a men’s team in the elite division. In the past, this has been a big highlight for many students – and something that only boosts the motivation to play even more at the folk high school. Volleyball is also a brilliant game to play in the evenings or at weekends: you can simply gather a group and meet up in the sports hall or at the beach volleyball court.
Your volleyball teacher is Anna, and she has many years of experience as a former elite player at both national team and club level. She loves sharing her knowledge and puts a lot of emphasis on making sure everyone has a great experience, no matter their level – so come down to the hall and give it a go.
