Joy of Running

Discover the Joy of Running

No matter your starting point—whether you are an experienced runner or completely new to running—this course is designed to challenge you physically and help you enjoy the process. You might want to improve your fitness, set a new personal goal, or simply discover the joy of running as part of your everyday life.

In Joy of Running, we focus on both running technique and the mental side of training.

You will work with interval training, hill workouts, and endurance—combining practical training with basic theory. Motivation plays a central role: how do we stay motivated, keep running consistently, and find the energy to train even on cold or challenging days?

The course also introduces different types of running, such as trail running, relay races, orienteering-inspired sessions, and fitness tests.

Much of the training takes place outdoors in the natural surroundings near the school. We explore a variety of terrains, including gravel paths, asphalt, and forest trails. You will become part of a supportive running community, with opportunities to take part in local races and events for those who wish.

Perseverance and enjoyment are key elements of the course, and training is designed to be both fun and engaging. You will improve your individual fitness while being part of a motivating group. At times, you will also take responsibility for leading training sessions and experience what it is like to motivate and guide others.

The course is taught by Sofie, who has more than ten years of experience in running, including orienteering, running communities, and several half marathons. Her enthusiasm and experience create a positive and inspiring learning environment.
