Everyone Can Learn the Art of Drawing

Drawing at Rønde Folk High School is for everyone – whether you draw every day or haven’t picked up a pencil since childhood. The most important thing is to dare to try. The teaching is designed so that everyone is challenged and supported, no matter their level.

At the beginning of the course, we work with basic exercises that help you feel confident with drawing tools and train your ability to observe the world with a sharper, more attentive eye. Through playful group exercises and individual tasks, you will experiment with techniques such as blind drawing, geometric understanding (more fun than it sounds), collaborative drawing, drawing upside-down motifs, and much more.

With a growing foundation, we move on to drawing animals, the human body and faces. Along the way, you will also work with a live model in the studio. Later in the course, we explore light and shadow and practice different shading and fading techniques, giving your drawings depth, volume and presence.

The teacher moves around the studio, offering individual guidance, feedback, tips and tricks. You will be encouraged to follow your curiosity, explore new motifs and influence the content of the lessons. Many students experience a powerful shift in confidence – the feeling of suddenly realizing: “I can actually do this.”

Beyond developing your technical skills, the class also offers a calm and reflective space in an otherwise very social everyday life. Here there is room for immersion, quiet music, a cup of coffee and relaxed conversations.

Drawing is a valuable skill for the future – both as a creative hobby and as a practical tool. Being able to express ideas visually can strengthen your studies, presentations and communication in many different contexts.

Your teacher, Anna, has many years of experience as a professional artist and illustrator. Alongside her teaching at the folk high school, she runs her own drawing studio, working for both private clients and larger companies. She looks forward to welcoming you to the studio and sharing her passion and experience with future students.
