This elective is all about trying your hand at practical skills that are useful in everyday life. It combines craftsmanship, problem-solving, and empowerment in one subject: you learn how to fix, understand, and create things yourself.
We explore both small and big questions: How does a power drill work? What exactly is a wall plug? Can you make a light bulb turn on? And can you build your own lamp?
The subject is first and foremost practical. You will use tools, examine materials, and try out techniques that make you more self-reliant. We screw, measure, assemble, repair, and build — learning along the way what works, what does not, and why.
You will also get hands-on experience with the small repairs that can save everyday life. Has a button fallen off your favourite shirt? Then we sew it back on. Does something need a quick fix? Then we figure out how to approach it.
Along the way, we talk about safety, materials, tools, and good working methods. The goal is not for everything to be perfect the first time, but for you to dare to try, think for yourself, and discover that you can actually do more than you think.
