Dance is the course for anyone who may not be a natural dancer but wants to have fun, move their body, and enjoy the company of others who love to dance. Choreographies are simple and fun, so everyone can join in. Expect to break a sweat, feel the energy, and enjoy great music as we explore many different dance styles—from Zumba and salsa to expressive Bollywood, ballet, aerobic, and line dance. Almost anything goes on the dance floor—even a little festive boot dance around Christmas!
Dance is for everyone, regardless of skill or fitness level. It’s easy, and it’s fun! You probably won’t become a professional dancer by taking this course—but you will leave feeling happy, energized, and ready to move. You are also welcome to contribute your own choreographies or suggest music you love. Each class starts with a light warm-up, ends with a stretch, and usually includes 8–10 short dances, learning something new each time. This way, you gradually build a repertoire while keeping the classes varied and exciting.
Research shows that dancing builds a sense of community and connection while improving body awareness, memory, and concentration. Dance strengthens posture, muscles, balance, and flexibility, and provides a basic cardiovascular workout. On top of that, music and movement boost the brain’s feel-good chemicals—dopamine for well-being and endorphins to reduce stress and pain. In short: dancing makes you feel good!
