As an international student at Rønde Folk High School, you participate in classes which mainly focus on learning Danish language and culture. Beside these mandatory classes you put together your own week plan by combining a few of the electives you find inspiring.
Here’s how it works: As an international student, some classes are mandatory and some are electives. Your main subject will be “Danish language & culture”, in which we work on Danish grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills. The class “Life in Denmark” is also a mandatory part of the danish classes.
The Folk High School environment gives you a unique opportunity to take what you learn in the Danish lessons and put it to use in your daily life at school and communicate with our Danish students.
Danish is a tricky language, but you will be surprised by how much you will learn during your stay! In Danish class, you will learn Danish conversation and basic grammar. During the lessons you can ask all the questions you have, especially regarding frases and word you´ve heard in day-to-day life and the school.
How much Danish you learn is up to you -you will learn a lot in class, but the learing process really takes off when you experiment with using the Danish language talking to your roommate and other fellow students.
We are studying different topics, which are related to Denmark:
The school has multiple study books in Danish.
We do not offer formal Danish tests.
Apart from your Danish lessons, you put together your own schedule based on interests and topics you wish to explore. We offer a wide range of classes in creative, musical, and sports-related fields, as well as what we call “existential classes,” such as International Politics. There´s plenty to choose from, and our goal is to make sure that your weekly schedule offers inspiration, education and challanges for all students.
We offer a wide range of subjects within sports, arts, music, communication and more. In this video you´ll see some of the subjects available for international students.
