At Rønde Folk High School, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Our travel programs offer you the chance to immerse yourself in diverse cultures, challenge your perspectives, and create lasting memories with fellow students.
Each semester, we organize optional trips to various destinations, each designed to enrich your educational journey through unique experiences.
On this trip, we extend the summer and move the folk high school south in October. You are invited to join Rønde Folk High School’s sports trip to Club La Santa – a world-famous sports resort offering outstanding opportunities to explore and enjoy physical activity in many different forms. The complex features world-class sports facilities and more than 80 different sports and activities.
Club La Santa is located on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, where the mild climate makes it ideal for sports all year round. The island also offers striking natural landscapes and a vibrant cultural life, which we explore alongside our sports activities.
Throughout the week, you will be inspired and challenged through both new and familiar sports disciplines. We approach sport with a strong focus on community and shared experiences, while also giving you the freedom to explore the many activities the resort has to offer on your own. In addition, we take time to experience Lanzarote’s unique and dramatic nature and to discover the local culture.
This trip is for you whether you already practise sports regularly or want to kick-start new, healthy habits and discover how much you can achieve when you do it together with others.

On this trip, we explore Icelandic nature and culture together. Iceland offers an almost unreal combination of beauty and raw wilderness, and we experience this dramatic landscape firsthand as a group.
We hike to the places where the continental plates meet, step behind powerful waterfalls, and relax in naturally warm geothermal springs. Throughout the journey, we are surrounded by extraordinary natural phenomena, with volcanoes, glaciers, and vast open landscapes forming the backdrop.
We also visit Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik – a small but vibrant city with a unique atmosphere. Here, we meet locals and explore the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Harpa Concert Hall, Hallgrímskirkja church, and the many outdoor geothermal swimming pools that are an important part of everyday Icelandic life. There is also time to enjoy a cosy café visit, and perhaps shop for a traditional Icelandic wool sweater in one of the city’s specialty stores.

On this trip, you carry your tent on your back and hike into Thy National Park in northern Denmark. Together with your fellow folk high school students, you spend four days camping in the heart of some of Denmark’s wildest nature. Expect to challenge yourself with surfing in the North Sea, outdoor cooking on camping stoves, and pleasantly tired legs at the end of the day.
This outdoor adventure takes place in the Thy region, where the landscapes are wide and open, and the horizon feels endless. With a bit of luck, we may spot red deer or even flocks of migrating cranes along the way.
We follow small trails through the national park’s unique landscapes, set up camp in the middle of nature, and prepare our meals on portable camping stoves. During the trip, you get the chance to experience the North Sea up close as we learn to surf in its powerful waves. There is also time for simple comforts – chocolate, hot cocoa, and shared breaks along the way.
As darkness fall upon us, we gather around the campfire for conversations and songs. When you move far away from everyday routines and live closely together outdoors, a special sense of community emerges. You may discover new sides of yourself and your fellow students during the journey.
If you have never tried this kind of outdoor adventure before, this trip is a great introduction to basic outdoor skills. Our goal is to help you feel confident spending time in nature, so you can later plan your own trips and continue exploring the outdoors on your own.

Are you ready to take on the German capital?
Forget boring museum visits and postcard tourism. Battle of Berlin is not just another study trip – it’s a cultural battleground where you and your group of students get the chance to prove that you have what it takes to make your mark on one of Europe’s most vibrant cities.
Berlin is divided into a number of zones that your group can conquer from another group by completing a series of missions across the city. The missions vary in difficulty, and the more challenging the mission your group completes, the stronger your control over the zone – bringing you one step closer to winning the Battle of Berlin.
Which group has the strongest strategy, the boldest courage, and the most unforgettable approach to culture?
And don’t worry: if challenges and competition aren’t your thing, Berlin is full of amazing experiences you can choose instead – like a more “classic” study trip.
The missions: Cultural experiences outside your comfort zone
What can you expect? Here are a few examples of missions:
Creative thinking: Create epic Strava Art through the streets of Berlin – guaranteed to earn kudos from friends back home.
Cultural encounters: Teach an unsuspecting German to speak your language.
Food lovers: Bratwurst, currywurst, sauerkraut, döner kebab… Can you create a convincing guide to German food culture?
At a folk high school, stepping outside your comfort zone is essential. Battle of Berlin encourages your group to drop inhibitions, meet locals, and create legendary stories you’ll be talking about for years to come.
A folk high school trip is about community
We’re not completing missions all the time. Mornings and evenings are mission-free, and each day is structured to give you the best of both worlds:
Community programme: Every morning and evening, we lay down our “weapons” and come together to share stories and explore Berlin’s political and cultural scene – as one big community.
Battle time: In the afternoons, the battlefield opens. This is when strategy, cooperation, and creative chaos unfold as your group works to complete the most challenging missions.
If you choose not to take part in the battle, an exciting alternative programme will be available.
Get ready to write your own chapter in Berlin’s history
May the best group win!

If you choose not to join a trip or multiple trips, you can stay at the folk high school at no extra cost. During these weeks, you take part in themed programmes with excursions, talks, workshops, and shared activities. We call these Folk High School Weeks.
A Folk High School Week is built around meaningful experiences, inspiration, and personal development. The aim is to offer new perspectives on your own life and on the society we live in. The programme varies from week to week, but you can expect space for creativity, playfulness, and curiosity – and in some cases, you will also have the opportunity to influence the content of the week.
Previous Folk High School Weeks have included themes and activities such as sustainable cooking, reflection and dialogue, mindfulness and presence, philosophy, creative workshops, an organic pop-up bar, excursions, conversations about sex and gender, improvisation, and theatre sports.
Price: Folk High School Weeks are included in the weekly tuition fee.
On this trip, we spend 8 days in Hovden, Norway, staying in self-catered apartments. During the first days, we head out on cross-country skis and explore the beautiful trail network at the edge of the Norwegian mountains. Experiencing winter in Norway this way is truly something special.
The programme is designed to suit everyone – from complete beginners and natural talents to experienced cross-country skiers. Cross-country skiing is not only about movement, but also about enjoying the moment: sitting in the snow, warming up by a campfire, and grilling sausages over glowing embers. One day, we also find a good hill and enjoy some classic sledding fun.
During the final days of the trip, you will have the opportunity to try alpine skiing or snowboarding at Hovden Alpine Centre – a friendly and atmospheric ski resort. Ski lessons are available for all levels, especially for those who have never tried skiing or snowboarding before. Our instructors join us throughout the entire trip, giving you great opportunities to learn and improve, both in cross-country and alpine skiing.
The alpine centre offers challenges for all skill levels. After a day on the slopes, we gather in the warm lodge, which becomes our shared living room during the trip. There is also plenty of time for social activities such as card games, music, and sledding. After our days at the alpine centre, we return to our cosy large cabin, where a sauna, good food, and relaxed evenings with reading, singing, and games await.
If you have never skied before, this is your chance to learn – and if skiing is not for you, there are many other ways to enjoy the beautiful Norwegian winter landscape. What matters most is the sense of community and the shared experiences.

On this trip, we explore Albania – a fascinating country that was once closed off from the outside world during its communist era. Since the fall of communism in 1990, Albania has opened up and today welcomes visitors with remarkable hospitality. The country offers a unique combination of dramatic landscapes and rich history, making it an exciting destination to discover.
Albania is both culturally and historically diverse, with unspoiled natural areas, ancient ruins, and impressive castles that are still part of everyday life for local communities. We also experience Albanian cuisine, which is influenced by both Italian and Greek food traditions.
Our journey begins in Tirana, the capital of Albania, where we arrive by plane. Here, we explore the city’s history, culture, and vibrant atmosphere. As we travel through the country, we pass olive groves, visit a mountain town, spend time along the coast, and explore several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. At these locations, we encounter traditional Albania through historic houses and impressive fortress complexes. We also take time to enjoy the country’s beautiful landscapes on guided hikes.
Rønde Folk High School has welcomed students from Albania for many years, and on this trip we will meet some of them. They will share their perspectives on life in Albania, and we may even be invited to taste raki – Albania’s traditional spirit, often compared to Danish schnapps.

On this trip, you join us for Folkemødet on the island of Bornholm (Danish Island) in June 2026. Together with fellow students and teachers, we travel by bus to Denmark’s “Sunshine Island” to take part in one of the country’s most unique events.
Folkemødet is Denmark’s annual democracy festival, where politicians, organisations, activists, artists, students, and citizens meet for open debate and dialogue. It is a lively mix of discussions, politics, music, singing, social events, camp life, and inspiration. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming, making it easy to engage in conversations with people from very different backgrounds and perspectives.
At Folkemødet, you can listen to debates, meet people you agree with – and people you strongly disagree with – and gain insight into different worldviews and political movements. You might find yourself sharing a drink with a well-known politician, cooking food and roasting marshmallows over a campfire, dancing in the early morning light in Allinge, or taking in new ideas as we discuss society together and meet decision-makers, influencers, and students from other folk high schools.
It is an unforgettable experience with a truly special atmosphere, and we look forward to sharing it with you.
