FAQ about Rønde Folk High School

A Folk High School is a unique Danish learning institution focused on personal growth, community, and lifelong learning. There are no exams or grades—instead, learning is driven by passion, curiosity, and the desire to explore new subjects in an informal setting.

We welcome both Danish and international students. For international students, we offer a dedicated program where courses are designed in English and include Danish language and cultural elements, ensuring a experience in life at a Danish Folk High School—even if you don’t speak Danish.

Not at all! Our international program is specifically tailored for students who do not speak Danish. While you will have the opportunity to learn the Danish language and culture, the primary instruction and activities are in English.

The international program offers a combination of:

  • Danish Language & Culture: Courses to help you integrate and understand Danish society.
  • Elective Subjects: A range of creative, social, and practical subjects available in English. Please note that some study-preparatory subjects and certain electives taught in Danish are not available to international students.

Rønde Folk High School organizes a variety of optional trips during each semester to enhance your learning experience:

  • Spring Semester: Trips to Albania, Norway (a ski adventure featuring 3 days of cross-country skiing and 3 days of alpine skiing), Iceland, Folkemødet on Bornholm, and an outdoor excursion to Thy National Park.
  • Autumn Semester: Trips to Club La Santa in Lanzarote, Iceland, Folkemødet on Bornholm, and an outdoor excursion to Thy National Park. Each trip is designed to combine adventure, cultural exploration, and community building.
